Verhofstadt: European Parliament will block any 'favourable terms' for UK

European parliamentarians gear up for firm showdown on Brexit negotiations  

THE leader of the liberals and democrats (ALDE) in the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, has said in a statement that the European Parliament would block any deal that was favourable to a post-Brexit UK.

Made on the group's website, Verhofstadt's comments were in reaction to the news that UK Prime Minister Theresa May wants to negotiate the's UK access to the single market with what he calls “exceptional” benefits.

British-Irish Council meets to hammer out common ground on Brexit fallout

FIRST MINISTER, Nicola Sturgeon will attend an emergency meeting of theBritish-Irish Council (BIC) hosted by her Welsh counterpart, Carwyn Jones AM, in Cardiff today.

The meeting will be attended by leaders and ministers from the UK and Irish governments, the devolved administrations of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and the governments of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
