Higher inflation set to increase cost of living 

THE UK IS EXPECTED TO ENTER a prolonged spell of increased living costs following the sharp drop in the value of the pound sterling on international trading markets. 

Yesterday [Thursday 3 November] the UK central bank projected inflation rises of towards 3 per cent in 2017, and added that inflation is likely to remain above its own 2 per cent target for a further three years. 

Higher inflation means price increases for goods and services like food, clothing, fuel, and domestic bills.

A NEW INFLATION SURGE is cutting into UK wages and living standards after a failure to provide stability in the wake of last summer’s Brexit vote. 

The Tory party, whose referendum and year of uncertainty led to a double slump in the value of the pound sterling, now faces a living standard crisis on top of the political difficulties from losing its parliamentary majority.

THE UK IS ALREADY suffering from the impact of the disastrous Tory approach to pursuing a ‘Hard Brexit’ from the European Union as the country fell to the very bottom of a key economic league table.

In 2016 and January 2017 the Tory Government boasted that the UK was “the fastest growing in the G7”, including in statements to the House of Commons by Prime Minister Theresa May and Chancellor Philip Hammond.
